GREED & RAPACITY Announce Partnership With Milam Records, Release Details for ‘Loki Bound’

Inline image 2
Antipodean metal extremists GREED & RAPACITY have been cultivating a rapt audience of devotees and supporters since their ‘Ergreifer’ demo surfaced in 2010. Now, at the cusp of the apocalypse, they are pleased to announce their alignment with like-minded individualists Milam Records to unleash their long-awaited debut EP, ‘Loki Bound’ on April 9, 2012.
Dedicated to channeling and venting the worst of human nature in sonic form, and obsessed with aural depravity, with clattering and crushing performances of music as technically confounding as it is eviscerating, GREED & RAPACITY is less a band than an experience. Its two progenitors collaborate from Portland, Oregon and Sydney, Australia, and are also involved in BLEAKWOOD and AZOTH (check out an interview explaining the threads connecting the projects here).
According to The Lurker’s Path, “GREED & RAPACITYstands at the nexus of forward-thinking black metal, funeral doom and ritual black ambient. ‘Loki Bound’ is a lesson in how to construct and execute extreme metal in the most organic sense of the word…Combining the somnambulism of better dark ambient acts together with the occult sensibilities of higher echelon black metal outfits like Deathspell Omega has paid off no end on this EP…A sea of sickened growls, whispers and burrowing voice manipulation hides just beneath the morass of ‘Loki Bound,’ weaving a heavy robe of occult texture.GREED & RAPACITY wear this shadowy veil with pride, and rightly so, the music on display represents a band maturing beyond their contemporaries.”
Loki is the Norse god of chaos. Bound by his fellows for crimes real and imagined, rotting, burning up in the inexorable drip of the serpent’s venom. Humanity’s most potent, most primal instincts personified, then bent against themselves, pent into an apocalyptic tide of hatred, paranoia, resentment, and spite. The mythic embodiment of (self)righteous disgust. It’s only fitting to invoke his name on such an otherworldly slab of pure sonic mayhem. ‘Loki Bound’ is a one track, 33-minute doom metal plunge into ravening insanity. Animalistic shrieks and grunts, mind-breaking time signatures, and oppressive layers of down-tuned guitars invoke total chaos and suffering while lurching bass, pummeling drums, and eerie choirs drag the listener, struggling but helpless, into the eye of Loki’s captive fury.
According to the band themselves, “This release is an expression of the most utterly depraved – and therefore most profoundly human – archetypal force that exists. ‘Loki Bound’ is akin to an irresolvable, all-consuming existential crisis, a nadir without end.”
Come April 9th, 2012, the cassette edition (with digital download) of ‘Loki Bound’ will be available through:

APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT Announce Rerelease of ‘Armageddon Won’t Be Brought By Gods, But By Men Who Think They Are…’ 7”

Inline image 1
Every once in a great while, a new band comes along with such intense fury that they captivate all who hear and see them. Anarcho-crust eco-warrior collective APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT is that band, and ‘Armageddon Won’t Be Brought By Gods, But By Men Who Think They Are…’ is their seminal release, a 7” slab of raw power and vitriol that will be resurrected from its long out-of-print status by venerable punk provocateurs Profane Existence on April 3, 2012
Hailing from the mountains of West Virginia, ATU belt out a thunderous chorus of eco-awareness and chastisement for mankind’s destructive ways (or at least those who are in control). Musically they combine classic punk, crust, and a hint of metal into a sound that’s likened to latter day NAUSEA, totally reinforced by the strong female vocals throughout. Adding to the over-all amazing quality of this EP are additional touches of brilliance, like the brutally powerful recording by Jay (Antischism, Damad) at The Jam Room in South Carolina and incendiary cover / poster art by Marald. Normally this sort of praise for a job well done is reserved for bands who have been around the block once or twice — not for the debut EP from a band barely formed a year before recording, but ATU are far from “normal.” They are more a force of nature than a punk rock band. This is the band’s first 7” release, which originally came out in 2007 and has been out of print ever since, claiming its place as one of the most sought-after records in Profane Existence history!
Since their inception this energetic and uncompromising band has completed numerous tours of the United States and Europe and released a series of cathartic, razor-edged crust monoliths. Profane Existence commented, “We are excited to have this record back in print just in time to hit the streets before ATU’s summer tour!”
Keep an eye out for tourdates.

OILTANKER/NO TOMORROW Announce Release Date for Split LP

Inline image 1

Profane Existence are proud to announce the imminent release of a split 12” LP that showcases two up and coming metallic crust powerhouses and drops April 3, 2012. Connecticut’s d-beat destroyers OILTANKER and Cape Fear crust vigilantes NO TOMORROWboth come armed to the teeth and hardened by years of toiling and touring. Worshipping upon the filth-streaked altars of Scandinavian hardcore, Japanese punk, classic d-beat, and vicious, metallic-minded crust, these two bands have risen rapidly through the underground, and are poised to take the fuck over.
The label stated, “Tour after tour, song after  song both of these bands are relentless and have shown through their  actions that they won’t let up until the world hears their message of  defiance and unrest. When looking for new artists to join the Profane Existencefamily we want bands that exemplify our mission statement. These bands are definitely out there “Making Punk A Threat Again!”  While each band has their own unique style it’s easy to see why they  are sharing a release together. Their sound is heavy. Their delivery is  crushing. The recording embodies the high energy performance and intensity you would expect from a live show while sounding solid and  musically tight. This is definitely a record that will breath new life and energy into the crust punk genera. When they contacted us about releasing the record there was no way we could pass it up. This is one  of the best new records we have heard in a while!”
Fans of Disrupt, Nausea, Doom, & Extreme Noise Terror are sure to agree. With both bands poised to launch live assaults upon the continental US and even further, the release of their split LP is only a merciless harbinger of the destruction that is to come. There will be blood.

COFFINWORM Announce Vinyl Release of ‘Great Bringer of Night’ via The Flenser

Inline image 1

The Flenser are pleased to announce this latest addition to the fold, Indianapolis blackened sludge barbarians COFFINWORM. The San Francisco-based label will be partnering with the band for the first-ever vinyl release of their now-classic ‘Great Bringer of Night’ demo from 2009.

COFFINWORM play ugly music for hateful people. The doomhauling quintet first came crawling out of the primordial ooze of Indianapolis’ D.I.Y. underground in 2007, and have kept themselves busy doing the devil’s work ever since. Their virgin offering, 2009’s self-released three-track demo, demanded attention, and got it, as the press and fans of the heavy started to discover ‘Great Bringer of Night.’ COFFINWORM had given volcanic birth to a wretched, heaving slab of noxious, blackened death sludge of the lowest order, one that eventually led to their signing with Profound Lore and invitations to perform a number of high-profile live actions across the country. Hellish, depraved, and heavy as a neutron hammer, COFFINWORM had truly created a monster.

It all began here, though, and The Flenser have committed to dragging this filthy gem out into the sunlight to give it the treatment it so richly deserves, and adding the original versions of two extra songs that had found their way onto the band’s Profound Lore debut. Sludge, tortured doom, snarling black metal, knuckle-dragging death metal and a few handfuls of crusted-over punk meld together into one of the nastiest, most misanthropic, most wonderfully ugly albums you’ll ever hear, ripe for fans of BURNING WITCH, EYEHATEGOD, NOOTHGRUSH, DARKTHRONE, and CORRUPTED.

Now, you’ll finally be able to experience it on coal black vinyl - heavy as black tar. , addictive as black tar heroin. This deluxe version will include two unreleased tracks from the demo recording sessions in all their raw glory, and comes graced with the gorgeous artwork of Bryan Proteau (DEAFHEAVEN, PALLBEARER, ATRIARCH, LYCUS, OBOLUS) and a finely-tuned mastering job from James Plotkin (KHANATE, ISIS, PELICAN, KVIST).

TRACKLISTING
1. High On The Reek Of Your Burning Remains

2. Strip Nude For Your Killer
3. The Inner Caligula

4. Start Saving For Your Funeral
5. Spitting In Infinity’s Asshole

AUTHOR & PUNISHER and Seventh Rule Recordings Align to Bring You ‘Ursus Americanus’

Inline image 1

Seventh Rule Recordings are proud to announce the latest signing to their eclectic roster, San Diego’s AUTHOR & PUNISHER. Iconoclastic in the truest sense of the word, Tristan Shone, the sole propagator behind this haunting, claustrophobic cacophony inverts the tenets of doom metal completely, relying on cold steel and soulless machinery to bring despondency to life. His new record, entitled ‘Ursus Americanus’, will be his first release on Seventh Rule, and is due out as digipack CD on April 24, 2012.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER can be described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” but of course, is much than a mere genre tag. This one-man project utilizes primarily custom designed and fabricated machines and speakers, devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics and focus upon the eroticism of interaction with machine.  The machines are designed to require significant force from the performer, aligning he or she with the plodding doom influenced sounds that are created - ”Like Godflesh meets The Bug meets Flying Lotus,” according to MSN Metal’s Adrien Begrand.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER has performed with and shown these machines extensively at festivals and exhibitions in the United States and abroad, and has more live actions planned for 2012.

DISCOGRAPHY

2012 - URSUS AMERICANUS

2010 - DRONE MACHINES

2007 - WARCRY

2005 - THE PAINTED ARMY

PAST WORDS OF PRAISE

“An ultra-intense blast of industrial metal performed by enslaved heavy machinery, and at it’s most intense, sounds like a symphony of hellish steel presses and tank-tread drum machine rhythms…” -Crucial Blast

“Shone wisely uses electronics to not only add melody, but just as often, to provide warped discordance. What makes this style work is the artist’s ability to convey that to the listener a sense of mechanical manifestations of psychological wildfires, and contrast the cold and clinical aesthetic of the instrumentation with a bitter, passionate voice; and Shone’s delivery is confident, intense, and impressive” - Metal Review

“..If you’ve ever wondered what it must be like to inhabit the deepest depths of Hell—the underworld’s boiler room, where pedophile priests shovel serial killer brains into the burner to keep Hell’s gears moving at a steady pace—then listen to Drone Machines.” San Diego Citybeat

“The music becomes more than a chunk of industrial metal, it becomes a heaving metallic monster MADE from industrial metal, the various gears and servos emitting strange buzzes and whirrs, its thunderous footsteps the booming beat, the speaker rattling low end it’s guttural growl, and the howling vox, the man that commands this beast, and instructs it to do his bidding, a futuristic steampunk, post industrial robotic doom metal dirge, that we just can’t get enough of!” - Aquarius Records

Here are a few words about the mix: This mixtape represents a collection of music which has gotten me through long drives, hard

admatspringflattus2.jpeg
Creepsylvania’s thrash-obsessed masked merauders, GHOUL, will be continuing their mammoth US trek with GWAR with an additional round of live assaults. Joined by prog-doomsters KYLESA and LEGACY OF DISORDER. The band will be shredding through classic cuts as well as newer material from 2011’s critically acclaimed and viciously fun Transmission Zero (now available on CD/LP/digitally from Tankcrimes).
In addition, GHOUL will be offering up a special treat for fans of sweet tunes and weird formats - a limited edition foil-stamped flexi, available only from the band themselves and their cohorts at TankcrimesDigestor smirks, “We did a cover of “Kids in America” by Kim Wylde, and  it was recorded by a dude named Casey Westrope, or at least that’s what it looks like his drivers license says. It’s hard to read what with all the blood. Our version is about being trapped in the doldrums of everyday life in the catacombs and dreaming of escaping to America to savagely murder our fans. I’m happy to say we’ll soon see the dream become reality.”
The “Return of the World Maggot” tour kicks off in Richmond, VA on March 16th, 2012 with a special tribute show to benefit the family of GWAR’s Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, who recently passed away. Transmission Zero was recorded by Sal Reya at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, CA, and features eleven ripping tracks of GHOUL’s trademark death-thrashing crossover mayhem. Extreme Responses’ James Hoare praised it as “superbly anachronistic stuff - all fist-pumpingly punkish, up-tempo grinding crossover thrash, with Carcass-bothering high vocals and Massacre-like slab-battering lows,” while FEARnet raved, “When the worlds of thrash, punk, surf, death and hardcore collide with such insane force, there’s a risk that the resulting explosion will be too much to handle… but not so for GHOUL, whose knack for pitch-black humor, clever lyrical storytelling (this is a concept album, after all) and solid hooks succeeds in stitching the scattered material together into a hulking altered beast.” In conspiracy with Metal Injection, GHOUL unleashed a ridiculously awesome new animated music video (created by Agalloch/Worm Ouroboros drummer Aesop Dekker and his sonThe Crud Wizard).
